Accord speedometer dropping
Hi All,
I have a 99' accord coupe 2.0 manual (for european market) and recently the speedometer started acting up. It would sometimes drop to zero and come back up after a few seconds to one minute. I have searched the whole internet for this and the only thing I can find is the VSS or vehicle speed sensor going out. This would seem reasonable since also my cruise control goes out when this happens. But what does not sit right is the loss of power. I can literally feel the engine tone changing and the car losing a bit of speed if I am just cruising on highway. Once the speedo pops back up, the car kicks back into power and accelerates back (with my foot stationary on the pedal). Sometimes the speedo will go out during or just after a turn and then go back up after another turn or if I get mad, downshift, and rev the crap out of that engine. It seems to me this is electrical. I just cannot figure out where to start looking. Main relay? Already soldered two times before. A short in the cluster? Elsewhere? Thanks.
