Default AC help.

hope this is the right forum. if not pls move.

First of all they symptom is the normal, blowing warm air. I never recharged the a/c in my car since it has left the factory , 99si.

I took it to a local shop today to get charged. The mechanic calls me back and says both high and low pressure are within spec so i decided to dig a bit. He said the low pressure switch wasnt getting enough power. He had a 12v light probe on it and it was dimly lit. so heres what i did to investigate and not spend 95$/hr for them.

1. checked fuses under hood and dash - all good
2. checked relay for cont under w/ and w/out power - good
3. jumped the scoket to gnd. 12v
4. jumped socket to self - ac clutch clicks on/off
5. pulled low pressure switch, bluw/white wire measured 11.84V, other wire seemed to have 4V but maybe it was just my meter
6. check cont on the switch itself. - good
7. then grabbed the helms manual to see if ive missed anything, which i did. blk/red wire on ecu...12V
8. manual says replace the low press switch. im going to get one just in case.

only thing else i can think of is that i recently installed a jdm typeR climate control bezel. is there some sort of wire that needs to be moved on the harness?? shot in the dark im sure. AC switch seems good. it lights up

pls help im totally lost.

thx

did you try touching the two pins on the low pressure switch together?

if the low pressure switch is on the clutch will jsut not engage....it thinks it is out of r134 which also carries the oil for the compressor so it wont turn on to prevent compressor damage

dont want to sound like an idiot, but what will that do? if the 2p plug is off to touch the pins together, there wont be any power to make it do anything, correct? I did go from pin to pin on the switch to check continuity and it beeped, leading me to beleive the switch is not open.

how do you check r134 levels? Isnt that what the machine at the shop is connected to the high/low pressure lines for? Im not up to speed on AC system to well.

you can check the 134 system with a good set of gauges, you don't necessarily need to have the machine, but it would be nice though

if you have system pressure and the compressor clutch spins by hand then the lowq pressure switch may be broken and jsut preventing it from coming on

ok ill look into that as well. right now im thinking the ac switch box on the front of the climate control may be the issue. im swapping back in a usdm system to make sure it works.

Can you have good pressure and system full with oil, but STILL be low on R134?

All of a sudden my AC stopped working.... but lines are fully pressurized and it wont accept any more easy-fill crap (I tried cause i thought it was low)

**** WHERE is the Low Pressure Switch?

It turns out that my AC switch in the HVAC button cluster crapped out on me...

I disconnected the clip and ran a new toggle switch off a switched fuse to the compressor and AC kicks in nice.....

Now I gotta find a replacement AC switch
