98GSR Problems
Hey everyone, i just bought a 98GSR and it has some minor issues that i could use some insight on!
1. The guy i bought it from said that the alternator out put is low, its putting out 12v when it should be at 13.5v at thats why my idle is low(500-1k), the problem is the car cuts of when driving. when i let off the gas sometimes the rpms will drop to 0 and the car cuts off! Can that be because of the low voltage?
2. The check engine light is on and the guy i bought it from(who works at an auto parts store) said that he ran the codes and its because of the alternator. I took it to autozone to see the codes for my self and they said 4 codes (misfire on all 4 cylinders). I have MSD Cap w external tower, MSD wires, MSD blaster coil. Could the codes have to do with the alternator voltage or do you think i have another problem with my setup?
3. My power steering belt is disconnected because i was told the steering rack is leaking and spraying fluid. Autozone told me that you cant just replace any of the seals, that i have to by a whole new rack and pinion($440 with core charge)! are there seals that you can replace or do i have to spend a couple hundred bucks to fix a leak in my power steering?
ok theres a couple more little issues but ill focus on these for now? Help/Advise/Experience requested and appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!

Ok so i reset my check engine light by taking the positive terminal off the batt and holding down the brake. the light went off for about3-4 minutes while idle in my driveway then came back on. when the car is idle the light blinks and then when you press the trodle it lights up solid! I took it back to Autozone to get them reread to see if the same codes came up.the codes are misfires on all cylinders and ignition system! What could be causing the codes if tha car seems to run fine with no hesitation or anything? Please help!
