96 civic speedo problem
I checked the output voltage on the VSS plug and its only 4.5-4.9v... I think its supposed to give me a battery output of something like 12v... I'm thinking its the plug or something but I don't know.
Question... would my alternator still charge my battery if the green plug on the alternator wasn't functioning properly? I'm thinking maybe I have a bad connection on the alternator plug on the harness side... like maybe corrosion or something...
The alternator is the only thing that's changed since all of these problems started happening.

I'll have to look at a wiring diagram because if your alternator is charging the battery light shouldn't be on. Sounds like bad wiring, ecu or fuse box but I'll have to look at a diagram to have a better idea
So, I pulled up a wiring diagram for the vss system, the charging system and the battery indicator system. they are all powered by the number 15 7.5 amp fuse in the under dash fuse box. the vss and the alternator ignition wire run through the connector 101 under the hood qhich is on the driver side shock tower, it is the bigger harness clip. Is your check engine light on? because the fuse 15 under dash distributes internally through the fuse box to different pins so if there was an issue on this circuit in the fuse box it would most likely affect both oxugen sensors and the evap system as well. So if you have codes for all of these coponents you probably have a bad fuse box. If not I would check connector 101 or the black/ yellow in the connector.
Small update...
I took out the plug for the alternator and started the car and the battery light turned off but the battery wasn't charging... it was at 11.99 volts... I turned the car off and plugged it back in... the battery light came back on BUT it's charging at 14.4v which is really good... I don't really understand what's going on. I know that if my alternator and battery systems aren't working it can cause my VSS not to work... which is why I changed the alternator in the first place... so I just have to figure this out.

I replaced the battery because I drove the car to the auto parts store and they said it was bad... but the alternator is good. It didn't fix anything, still have a battery light... it has to be electrical or something...
