9 second opinions
I want to know if the Tilton clutch is the only clutch out there for 9 second passes. 3500 dollars for a clutch is a bit steep........But if I need it, I guess I'm going to have to get it. Ouch!!!!!
Here's the combo: 15x9x26 slick ,Pro Drive Spool, Accord tranny H22(stock bore and stroke)and approximately 575 hp to the wheels and 490lbs of torque.......2100gross weight. Thanks!!!

wow ur car has madd power...i thought all the pros at 9 and faster are using sequentials....but im not sure....theres alot of unknowns running fast times like that too...and don't have the money for a tranny
They're running stock trannies with spools(I know for a fact). Reason why Tilton is the way to go is because of the Carbon Carbon material disc. This is used so that you can ride the clutch when you launch and the discs(3 of them) won't heat up. This allows you to spool your turbo, improve your 60foots and minimize on breaking axles and other transmission items as well too.
So, does anyone have any ideas? I guess I'm going to have to buy that damn clutch! OUCH!!!!!

I dont think that is the only 9 sec. clutch out there. I think that a few places can custom make a clutch for your application. Check out McLeod I think that they can help you out maybe Clutchmasters they may be able to I have heard of people getting custom stuff from them.
Spools are like welded diffs. but use a gear and a shaft instead. Welded diffs. are going to be banned in the near future, due to safety reasons, but I think they're already banned. You cannot use this for everyday use.
I know these guys that run a custom built automatic tranny on the worlds fastest Neon. Now I know it is not a Honda but still it runs mid 9 sec. quarters and has an automatic. Look for a feature on my friends car in Turbo sometime in the next few months. Have you ever thought of using as custom automatic.
The guys with the Neon had a shop I think by the name Forward Motion to build their automatic. Forwrd Motion is one of their sponsors and they only work on Mopar related cars. If Im not mistaken the guy who built the car Darrell *** told me awhile back that the transmission was pretty expensive but you dont have to worry about the clutch anymore and it is alot easier on the axles. I can give you the number to his new shop if you want it 336-623-6444. If you want you can read a little more on there automatic in the May 2001 issue of Super Street if you have it. They no longer run a carbureted nitrous 2.0L they run a turbo'd 2.4L with a Speed Pro engine management and alot of other custom made parts the whole car setup is basically different altogether.
forward motion has been around for years they started with those old school daytona's, shadows, chargers, omni glh's and such. that trans they have i would think would be the same as they have been using for many years now, also since our engines spin opposite of everyone else's how would their trans work with your engine????????? not trying to flame or anything just thinking aloud. level ten has done lots of work with honda auto trans i know craig paisley uses their gear. and i know i have seen a d-series powered civic coupe running 12's using their stuff as well. just look through the magazines if you ever noticed alot of the auto powered imports run stuff from level ten gear. their website is http://www.levelten.com and the phone is 973-827-1000
