I had a very similar setup as the one your thinking of doing. Gsr jun 3 head and b20 84.5 bottom end. Made 220whp ran 12.2 with ac on slicks. Oh and my compression was 13 and some change on pump gas. Never really had detonation problems. Guess I was lucky.

I'm almost thinking that it may be better to go 84/84.5 and give myself some room to move should something go wrong.
very good idea...i even went 86mm instead of 87mm on my race block... "just in case"

sleeves $800-$100 .....bore $75-$150

you can put gsr or R internals like crank and girdle into a b20 and make it basically a stock 84mm b18c but for most people this isnt economical because its cheaper to get your origional block sleeved and bored to 84mm and aftermarjet sleeves are stronger than a stock sleeve. then theres also the issure of running external oil lines.. if your starting from scratch and you have the choice to build either motor than its cheaper to buy a b20 then add a vtec head than it is to buy a full b18c and have it sleeved to 84mm.. (assuming you put the same amount of parts in)

oh and btw the oil squirters are only there to cool the stock cast pistons.. aftermarket forged pistons can dissapate the heat fast enough so they are not necissary..

My bad Mike, I didn't realize you were saying... Yes the CTR motor does... I just didn't get it because you said.. "Lastly all of the vtec blocks come with crank girdle" I know you knew that I was just bored.. hehe
