Hi, i have a 2001 Honda civic LX, my current problem with it is it keeps blowing the 80 amp battery fuse everytime i connect the battery, the car is fully stock and the only work i dont to it recently is replace the belts and lower control arm, hub, bearing, and ball joint. The battery is new and i replaced the terminals and negative battery cable and the positive cable is serviceable. I took the alternator to autozone so they can test it and it passed. Any ideas?

 

Somewhere along the timing side the alternator wiring has came loose and is touching ground.

That fuse is basically the alternator fuse.

You have a short to ground.


You are going to have to look at all the wiring on that side to find it.

 

You don't need to check that many wires. Check the large gauge white wire that runs from the alternator to under-hood fuse box and the positive battery cable that runs to the under-hood fuse box.

Right next to the under-hood 80 amp fuse, you'll see two large cables attached to the two separate terminals with Phillips screws. The large gauge white cable comes from the alternator and runs through the 80 amp fuse. The other large gauge cable (usually black) on the other separate under-hood terminal goes to/from the car battery.
