Battery fuse blowing.

Battery fuse blowing.
FIXED: denso type alternator touched the supercharger causing a short,
I had to switch to a mitsu type alternator with some mods to clear it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I could use some tips on what to check for the cause of this.
I'm trying to get my JRSC working on my d15b vtec cx hatch.
I'm running the cx wiring harness.
Now anytime I go to reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery,
it sparks like ****, and the 80A battery fuse blows.
I've blown two fuses already, and they're 3bux each so I dont want to blow anymore.
I cant find any loose grounds, visually the battery cables look fine.
my multimeter shows continuity across the thick white power wire(from alternator to fuse box).
I get 12.89 volts at the battery terminals, when the batt cables are connected or not.
I get the same 12.89 at the battery fuse.
I can unplug the alt power cable(from the fuse box) and with the negbatt cable connected, the fuse doesnt spark anymore(to avoid wasting fuses I just touch a wire to both ends of the fuse spot real fast to see if it sparks).
Any tips would be appreciated.
One other thing is that I snapped the head off the alt connector when I was tightening its bolt down, so I had to put in another alternator I had lying around.
This alternator was tested as working good a few months ago.
Thanks.

Re: Battery fuse blowing. (hatchi)
cut a coat hanger and bend it. shove it into the 80a slot and whatever wire(s) smoke and melt will lead you to the problem.
jk dont do that

yep sounds like the charging wire is grounding out at the alternator. check to see if that 10mm bolt holding the charge wire hits ground. if not the alternator itself could be shorting internally.

roger,
i'll get on that today.
woulda checked already, but I only checked the fusebox end of the power wire, cuz basically its hell getting to the alternator once the SC is installed on top of it.
I went out and bought a 12/14mm racheting wrench though.. so I can actually loosen the bolts without being driven mad(cost me $30 but i think my sanity will thank me).
and yeah, the SC rests right on top of the alt bolt, BUT it is inside its rubber boot.

GOT IT!
the alternator was touching the supercharger,
I believe it was the housing of the alternator, not the terminal itself that was causing the problem.
SO if anyone about to setup a JRSC on a sohc is reading this. Find yourself a mitsubishi type alternator, the denso type will hit the supercharge and short itself out.
I also had to rotate the terminal on the mitsu alt down to clear the SC,
and I had to add a washer to the idler pulley to clear a screw on the alt.
heh.
