5W-20 oil
Anyone use it to get better gas milage?
I guess it is a new fad for manufacturers (Honda, Mitsu etc) to use to get better gas milage as it is energy conserving.
Anyone have any recomendations if it's safe to use in older cars like H series or B series ?

i wouldnt do it. the reccomended weight used in b and h series is 5 w 30. over time and with added miles (especially over 100,000 miles) your internal tolerances will open up (become larger) therefore you actually have a need for THICKER oil and not thinner. they run new 5 w 20 because tolerances are tighter in the new motors, and yes, gas mileage is better too. you should see what the new hybrids run.......0 w 20.
The ONLY reason that alot of car companies are specifying 5w-20 oil is for cafe (corporate average fuel economy) requirements. Cafe requirements are averaged out through the whole model range--meaning if one car gets 25, another gets 20 and another gets 15--the avg. would be 20. By using 5w-20, they can avg. in another 1/2 mpg or so, which winds up saving car companies big bucks. In terms of helping your motor---5w-20 is not good on any level that I can see.
