Default 3500 rev limit

Anyone know why my car seems like it has a 3500 rev limit under load while driving? Thought it was a trans issue but now I'm thinking electrical.

It is fine if u don't give it a lot of throttle. But if u do it rev limits in all gears...

Common problem on Crown Victoria's, requires new ignition coils. Do you drive a Crown Victoria?

And this started happening when? No one ever really seems to solve these issues (if they do they never report back) but most people seem to think it's a distributor issue.

Just got the car 150k on it bad trans.. I rebuilt trans. New torque conv. Put 5-5k on it. No problems. Randomly just started one day. I thought it was trans related which it may be but I know for a fact engine rpm is limited even in N while cruising I don't know if there's some safety under certain conditions?? I put a whole thread about it in trans section.. I'm dead lost..

What maintenance have you done to it? Tuneup? Timing?

Timing belt was supposedly done at around 100k. I have done none really. Oil flush and trans rebuild

#1 cause is clogged cat ... remove the front oxygen sensor(to allow exhaust gas to escape) and see if it runs better

The P1259 is the source of the rev limit, The P1298 is the ELD circuit, P0141 and 457 refer to a failed O2 heater/or sensor element and a very small evap leak, niether of which will cause a rev limit.

Low oil pressure to the head, low oil level, incorrect grade, leaking oil pump, or a failed VTEC oil pressure switch will cause P1259 to set. A faulty VTEC rocker solenoid will also produce this DTC. I would be willing to bet that the first three are the cause of your problem.

Problem resolved. One of the v tec solenoid connectors was not connected Plus the screen was pretty full of junk from the oil.. Also I had added the incorrect oil weight (20w50) To top off when it was low... Motor flush, oil change w 5w20, cleaned screen, connected both electrical connectors , and D/C battery.. Runs great!
