2009 AP2 S2000 A/C
Having similar problem/phenomenon to others on S2Ki forums. The A/C will cycle off on its own by either the compressor shutting off or both fans cycling off - this is on max/recirculation setting and occurs seemingly intermittently on hotter days (Miami FL). Dealer service dept checked car and said ok (has a fault code re gas tank pressure??) that it's "normal" for it to cycle. I disagree as I've not seen or heard of this throughout my 30 years of Hondas ownership. I think it's a fault in the ECU and am going to try to overcome it by testing to see if it's compressor or fans originated, and if it's the fans that first cycle off causing the compressor to turn off then I'm gonna try a bypass circuit to feed ground power to the fan circuit via a separate switch and/or a simple normally closed relay and a diode to perform the power feed function without locking it in thereby causing the fans to be on all the time - my goal is to get power to the fans when the computer intermittently drops it, yet still allow the fans to cycle off-on in a non-A/C mode for engine cooling only. Any ideas, experiences or thoughts on this would be welcome.
A/C compressors "cycle" on all A/C systems , on Hondas cycling is controlled by the A/C thermostat, [prevents evaporator from freezing up].
I would check the A/C thermostat if the system cycles too much. 94
