Default 2000 SI Tranny no reverse?Need Help

I have a 2000 si tranny.....while the car is off it won't go into 5th gear and reverse but while driving 5th can be used and reverse won't go in at all....what might be causing gears to be so hard to get into?

either your reverse synchro is dead or your reverse selector is broken or bent. i have a B hydro reverse synchro used very little. you can have it for like $10+shipping.

just open it up and find out. or have a buddy do it nearby. and watch. you'll probably be fascinated. and that way you make sure he's not f'ing you.

How much would a bent selector run me for parts and labor?

$75 at honda for the part. labor would be through the roof at any shop. if somebody had the tranny out of the car and handed me the tranny and the shift fork, i'd charge like $50 for the labor. but that's just good ol' me.

if the shift linkage was broken, you wouldn't be able to shift into any gear. it's possible that the reverse shifter/holder is bent, though. that's only $28 at honda.
