2000 civic ex idle problems
Ok so I just got this car and really don't know anything about civics, I am more of a Domestic car person. But the problem is it idles at 1500 rpms at all times..I just changed the spark plugs, wires, rotor/cap, and did oil change and filter and fuel filter. Still the Rpms have not changed a bit. From what i know, this car has headers, AEM Cai, dual exhaust, and Chipped Ecu (which I've heard isn't possible for my civic?)
any advice I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks ahead of time!

i would check your idle air control valve on the back of the intake manifold. could be dirty (sticking) they can get gumed up and need cleaning. is your check engine light on? also wold be a good idea to check and see if u have any vacuum leaks
ya the check engine light is on. but he said that it was on due to the fact he changed the intake and put the headers and ecu upgrade..
But could you explain how i can do these things because i really have no idea.

Well its difficult to know what really going on without knowing what dtc (diagnostic trouble code) that your ecu has set, which is why the check enigne light is on. what ecu are u running? if it is a chipped ecu it has to be obd1. a obd2 ecu cannot be chipped so if he says he chipped the factory p2p he's lieing to you. headers wont normally cause the check engine light to come on. i would first see what code you are getting and go from there. you could have other issues. and a way to check if u have a vacuum leak with a gauge is to take brake parts cleaner and spray all of your vacuum hoses and see if your idle goes up or down (engine responding to the cleaner). hope that helps some.
