Default 1.8 B16

I noticed on importbuilders.com they have a 1.8 B16 block. How do they change a 1.6 to a 1.8?

It takes roughly an ~86mm bore to displace a B16A to a 1.8L, this would mean sleeving... I'm not exactly sure on the importbuilder blocks but dropping a B18C 87.20mm crank into a B16 along with custom pistons (w/ a high mounted wristpin) and rods to not drop the R/S too low it is possible.. If you were to go about doing this I would probably just sell a B16 and try to find a B18A/B/C block, I personally like the C the best because of the internal oil feed and the girdle... It's just a lot easier in the long run... The last way that I can think of that is probably the easiest is too, sleeve it up to ~84mm's drop a B17A 81.40mm crank along with it's rods and some ~84mm slugs... That puts you a tad bit over 1800cc... Hope this helps.. Peace

Well, I have a second gen B16 with stage 2 revhard. Boost gauge indicates 12 psi. That is what I would be running max. I damaged three pistons and want to know if I should go for a 1.8 B16 block with sleeves, pistons, rods and all that s**t or just a plain B16 block with pistons, rods and all that stuff (not sleeved)? Or B18 Block?

I would be willing to bet that this motor is stroked and not sleeved. Furthermore, don;t bet on a deck plate. I would stay away. A stroked B16A is going to have a ridiculously short rod ratio and excessive side loading. This is bad in any situation but is particularly bad if boosting. A B18C (which has a taller block to accommodate a longer rod) would be a MUCH better choice if you want more cubes. Otherwise, stick with a plain old B16A.

Open it up drop in B18 crank throw on new rods and pistons. Put it back together. There you go a B18. What's wrong with a deckplate if it's done properly?

Nothing is wrong with a deck plate. I would just not count on one being there. Adding a deck plate is an expense that few people are willing to take. Regardless, it would be cheaper and better to just use a GSR block.
