Default converting b16 to b18c5

can i just get all the internals crank, rods, pistons, oil pump etc. and just put it into a b16 block without any mods; and will the itr head just bolt on the b16?

ITR head will bolt right onto a B16, but, depending on what year you have for the B16 you may have distributor wire issues I think....

b18c5 crank and rods in a b16 block eh? well the pistons will sit out of the holes (remember itr block is taller then a b16 hence it utilizes longer rods) and you'll have some nice piston to head action..

good wishful thinking tho..

Default You could..

..use a b17 rods and crank, and you would be right in the middle of 1.6 and 1.8, a 1.7 liter oem part motor, the b16 and b17 blocks are identical!
But, why would you want to stroke the b16? The b16 has the ideal rod ratio [1.75] and has nearly perfect motor geometry [less sidewall load, etc.]!
Stroker motors are for race cars, not daily dirven grocery getters, if your looking to increase displacement: bore the motor!
Then again, you wont want to grind/remove too much off the cylinder walls, either way, you would be better off just getting a b18c block and using your b16 head, which by the way will lower you compression roughly ~0.2 points, since the b16 head has a lager combustion chamber!
Also, the b16 and itr head are the SAME, less the fact that the itr head is hand polished and the valve angle is more acute, 40 or 45 degress!
Anyway, no you cant use those internals on a b16!

Isnt it a fact that the 2nd gen B16a has the same block height at a GSR? i'm pretty sure the rods are just longer. Can anyone verify this? If i remember correctly, you can easily put GSR stuff in a 2nd gen...

doesn't matter what gen...the only b16 that has an identical block to a gsr is the b16b.

Yeah, i think your right. I was thinking it was the 2nd gen, but the B16b sounds more like it. Guess i didn't remember correctly
