1/4 mile....lsd or 4.7 final drive?
Say I have a choice of a b16 Tranny either with an lsd or one with a 4.7 final drive...which would help me burn up the 1/4 mile better? Also please school me on the advantage and functions of an lsd and higher final drives.

The 4.7 final drive will let you accelerate faster, but you will hit redline at lower speed. The LSD allows the tranny to put the power down on where the car gets grip. I would go with the B16 with LSD, especially if you spend most of your time on the road and not the strip.
LSD. Unless you are going to raise the redline a bit, then maybe the FD would be a better choice. If you are ONLY going to go with LSD or FD, I'd say lsd is the way to go.
So the lsd will help decrease my 1/4 mile times right?
But to answer your question, no... between LSD and FD, the FD will decrease your 1/4 mile more.

if you get the LSD you'll leave two black strips when you leave the line...no more peg-legging which is what happens when you drag race with an open diff...only one wheel get's the power. if you drive your car as your daily driver the FD will make highway driving hell, and you'll have to shift more often. IMO, i'd go with the LSD...it'll also help you power outta the corners better too.

A lsd is definetly the way to go first mabey down the road go for a different final drive but you will love a lsd. you will at least take a couple tenths off your time according to how much you spin now of course.

to clarify...when you launch in an open diff equipped car (like yours) which ever wheel breaks traction first recieves all the power....works on the principle of following the path of least resistance. This creates what we call 'one wheel peel' A quaife LSD is torque biasing, so when one wheel starts to break traction, the diff automatically sends all the power to the wheel with the grip. Doesn't mean you'll be able to launch at a higher RPM, but it will help you maximize traction at lauch, and will definetly help you decrease you're 60 ft time.

Daaamn, 5k rpm on the highway? How do them people with the 4.785 ITR trannies do it? Daily Driving would suck then
I might not want to throw the final drive in later after all.
