00' type r ecu ??? help all honda tech !!
question for all you honda tech... i have a 98 hatchback with 98 gsr swap, i would like to put an integra type r ecu in it, instead of gsr ecu... is it possible? and why??? and what do i have to do to make it work???
dont bother. unless you have the skunk 2 intake manifold and better cams. the GSR ECU opens your IABS at 5750RPMs, the type R will not. so if you swap ECUs without swapping the intake manifold, you get the check engine light.
thanks, and i do have ctr camshafts and jg manifold.... so you all are saying that the integra type r ecu can be put in my hatchback right?? and wgat will i need to do make this work??

yes! However, I don't remember if they both have the same pin location. or... that it involve some wiring. Well maybe some here may know this. But, I will check on this for you and can back.

For the amount of money you'd spend on an ITR ECU and a device to tune fuel/VTEC, you would be better off spending slightly more for something with higher performance and tunability (e.g. Hondata, PowerFC, AEM EMS).

thanks, actually the type r ecu is from my other car which is a 00 integra type r which is no longer needed because my type r is running hondata..... if you all don't mind, i know the pins in the ecu are different between 98 gsr and 00 itr, but what i needed to know is if it can be converted to the type r spec.. and how?? what pins and wires do i need to rerouted? please let me know..
it can be used but u will have to install a Type R ignition into ur civic. The Type R has a imobilizer aka a device that makes it so only Type R keys can start the car. So to run this ECU u now need a new ignition and a OBD2 to OBD2.2 conversion harness, unless u want to spend a day making one.
IMO stick with the GSR ecu, the only real benefit to doing this ECU "upgrade" would be ur rev limit gets raised a bit. If u want that just go get a MSD box.
