I know bout NJ and theif's my boi's ciVic b16 w/ arrrr internals and arrrr tranny got herb'ed. He only had it for 2 months As long as you invest in some anti theif items clutch lock, some kill switchs and a 2way pager alarm.. You'll be okay and feel a lil safer.. ( sorry i know this dont help your search for a swap, but i'd hate to see another NJ car get stolen by some to0l ) goodluck on ursearch </TD></TR></TABLE>

trust me, i know. nj sucks for this reason.

all im saying is for a theif, its much more worth the effort to steal a type r than a lowly b16.

watch for future issue of honda tuning to cover this b20-ls vtec reliability thing. HT built a 13 second 4 door integra with b20 and it did 205 to the ground with headwork and all stock internals including b20 pistons. this 4th installment covers a rebuild because it blew up.

here's the lowdown for reliability.

arp rod bolts
vtec bearings
gsr or itr oil pump
small reliefs in stock pistons for valve clearance
new gaskets everywhere
8k max redline

it should make awesome torque and run a long time. read the issue to see how fast it went after the rebuild.

well. either way, i need to spend 5 large to put 175 to the wheels. thats all i ask. low 14's, and won't blow up.

i wish someone had a recipie that would do it. like.. b16a2 + stroker.. or b16a2 + cams and blah... or b18c1 + cams and blah... i dunno. i feel like im fighting a losing battle.

future mods... i dont really care. its my daily, i'll be happy with 175ish to the wheels, and if i ever want more, i'll throw 6psi at it, but it's unlikely. </TD></TR></TABLE>

my friend has a stock jdm type r and vafc, and he made 180 to the wheels

ls or b20 turbo on low boost? those ls engines etc can be had for under $1500 i think. DIY turbo kit for lets say another $2k max, have some money left over for tuning or emergencies

B16's are cheap, then boost it. JRSC kit if you want low end torque and drivability, turbo if you want big top end power. Just be sure to budget upgraded engine management if you boost it. Also remember that everything ends up costing more than you planned, so budget conservatively. I've run a B16 with JRSC and loved it. Currently running a sleeved, built B16 making over 400HP as my daily driver, it's been very reliable and a lot of fun.
