Which engine is best for Del Sol??

Which engine is best for Del Sol??
I'm thinking of buying a Del Sol and swapping the engine. I want to spend about $4k(this includes labor cost) for the engine. Which engine would fit and perform the best, also, I would like to keep my AC and power steering.

Whatever you get, make sure it's at least a 1.8, you need the torque to pull all that weight.

are Del Sols that heavy?? I thought it was light due to its small body shape!
Also, I'm kinda new with engine codes... when you say B20, which engine is that out of?

No it's heavy due to the fact that it's got the extra reinforcement due to being convertable, the rear sliding glass is heavy, It's just a really unfunctional civic that looks cute to high-school girls.

Re: Which engine is best for Del Sol?? (grinched)
sigh i hate it when civic people say a del sol is heavy. It's funny when they compare it to a civic cx and a del sol VTEC model and say how much heavier it is. Maybe it's because it has a B series engine, abs, bigger disk brakes, disk brakes in the rear, more suspension stuff, etc etc
EDIT: let's compare a civic hatchback Si and a del sol Si since they were similar in engine and such. A hatchback weighs 2,390 pounds while a del sol Si weighs in at 2,414 pounds. A whopping 24 pounds more! Wow it's sooooo heavy. You probably also believe that the rear window breaks when you autocross too.

Re: Which engine is best for Del Sol?? (gshockbreaker)
a b20 is from a crv engine... check out http://www.crvtec.com/ for info on building one. In my opinion, in order to make a b20 perform good, too much stuff needs to be swapped out. I would recommend an Integra GSR engine (b18c1) if you want to go all motor. If you want to turbo or supercharge your engine in the future, i would suggest an Integra LS engine (b18b1) due to its low compression ratio. These can also be had for cheaper than a GSR engine.

All the Del Sol Hybrids I've seen are booty slower than any hatch and most coupes too. So until you weigh yours and I weigh my hatch I guess we're all just bitching.

i think the reasons del sols are a bit handicapped is the weight distribution on those ****'s.Also wheel distance may have something to do with it also.

Re: Which engine is best for Del Sol?? (supergreenSol)
Del sol Si=2414 lbs stock manual
Del Sol VTEC= 2491 manual stock
The wieghs in with the b16 already in it with the bigger brakes and better suspension.
most civics keep their stock suspension unless you add them in later, which it doesn't seem that many people have done with there 5th Gen civs.
