Default $30k Budget for work on a civic

Hey guys,

Over the next year i'm looking to drop $30k into my 99 civic ex. I'm looking for performance and looks. I have alot of research to do but i'm looking for opinions on people. I'm learning towards the turbo side of things too. and looking to swap in a b18c1 or a c5 pros/cons about this? In breif i'd love to hear how you guys would spend $30k in performance and appearance I will complete this project in a year or year and half and i'm sure i'll still be on this board so i'll post the results as its done too.

Opinions wanted:
Engine
Engine modifications, i.e lighten flywheel, cams port polish / resleeve pistons/piston rods ect
body kits
suspension(i already have koni yello'w with GC) and suspension tech anti-sway bars
turbo kits
trannys (LSD)?

And anything else would be great too

Thanks

I'd have to agree...How could you look yourself in the mirror choosing a Civic over a Supra?

the only reason not to buy a supra is if you don't have the $30K right now. Other than that all of these statements are very good ideas.

yeah i don' thave the 30k just sitting around, the 30k is just progressive over the next year i mean in 5 months i could have enough to do everything but i'd rather do things in steps anyway

A full spoon engine, and a tranny that will handle it. Suspension, I would go with a company called Tein, or Tien. Brakes: Bear or Brembo. I would leave the exterior factory and have a small sticker that says, "Got Spoon?", that's it. A sleeper. Sound MB Quart. I have a family, so I would put a DVD player and 2 monitors.
Just a suggestion.

Totally agree. Why would you drop that kind of money on a civic when they are EVERYWHERE, everyone and their mom drives a modified (or at least riced out) Civic. What kind of racing are you planning on doing? Is this a daily driver? Makes me want to cry that someone would have the money to buy a rexxy or Supra and they wanna mod a Civic.

Good point w/ the Supra. I cant imagine WRX insurance is much higher than a 99 Civic though.

You don't think the insurance company is going to adjust your policy if you want them to cover 30 grand in aftermarket work?

spoon. It is good stuff, but I wouldn't go out spending all that money and make my car half spoon.

b18c1 Sleeved by golden eagle with 84.5mm bore
JE Pistons 9:1 Comp
Crower Rods
Portflow head porting
Big turbo such as a 60-1
Max Rev or Inline Pro manifolds.
Custom 3" DP with Flexpipe
Defi or Greddy Guages
Plus lots more stuff, and have a car that can run 11's or better.

I looooove hondas. But I'd never spend even 15k on building one. For 10 K I could buy a hatch and install a dohc vtec, budget suspension, wheels, seats, and a bunch of misc stuff with $ left over. I'd put the other 20k in the bank or buy a decent used daily driver.

or I could just buy a supra...

If you really want to keep the civic and build it up, I would...

swap in a B18C1, seriously build up the internals, and slap a turbo kit on there
Hondata tuning
LS tranny with some aftermarket LSD
Some mild turbo complimenting cams (crower 400 or 401s?), tuned with cam gears
Suspension work to put the power to the ground (motor mount inserts, radius bars, etc)

My suggestion is to buy a civic thats already fixed up....

If not put a B18c1 inside and do this
JE pistons
Crower rods
Crower blockguard
T3/T4b hairdryer
SFP downpipe
Spearco chiller
750cc injectors
Hondata 2b
Tial 40mm
ARP head studs
Slimline fan
SFP turbo manifold
SFP chiller piping
HKS blow off valve
Clutchmasters stage 4
Greddy power extreme

It must be nice to have that kind of money. But 30g will get you in the 10's club and win the car shows. My advise is to do a lot of research before spending all that money. Good luck.

Save up for a little big, wait it out, and grab the USDM Lancer EVO when it hits.
