$3000 build me a short block
Ok i still havent decided on what kind of block or what i would do to it.So if you had $3000 which is around my budget and no bottom end what would you build and what components. The motor is going into eg hb CX model and i'm trying to hit mid to low 12's all motor.Head is a b16a ported with jun valvetrain and jun 3's.
I dont care how mild or wild the block is,it could be a deck plate motor,ls/vtec or crvtec whatever as longs as its a b-series no H22 sorry.Thanks.

Well If it were me.... 12.5:1 compression in a B18. Je pistons, eagle rods, acl bearings, balanced rotating assembly and prolly .060 over
buddy of mine named Brian had a 92 hatch..... with 11:1CR B18, skunk2 stage 2's, portflow head, gutted back end, and slicks ran 12.7's

if it were me, i'd do a fully built b20 bottom end, bored out as much as your costs allow. check out http://www.exospeed.com their stage 4 **** sounds appetizing.
Yea i was thinking about doing a b20 vtec sleeved. In the new SCC magazine they have 3 b20/vtec's hb's and they all run 12's and one run's 11's.I think two of them are over 200whp also.

So whats the difference between a b20 and an ls block stock,is it just the bore sizes? If it is then it makes sense to just go with a ls block and have it sleeved since the bore sizes would then be the same.
the sleeves are different.
between the two i would go with the b18a/b or a b18c block.
12s in a cx with a 2L is cake. you can also do it with a 1.8L pretty easily as well.

Are the strocks of each block the same?So its not just a bigger bore the sleeves are actually different? From what i heard the b20 sleeves are really week and crack easy.

b20 sleeves imo are weak and getting one that wont break is a 50/50 shot.
i much rather sleeve a b18
Coo thanks SGT i learned something new.Same rod and crank but weaker sleeves plus the bore of the b20 makes it a b20,got it.Yea i guess getting an ls would be better since everything is the same after its sleeved.
my setup is as follows....still building though
LS shortblock
BIG "shhh" bore
eagle stroker crank
13.0 custom pistons
headgasket to lower .5 compression for street
cunningham rods
honda bearings
and well over 225 HP
