shocks making noise

Does it leak? If it does, your shocks might be damaged already. Repair or eplace it immediately because further damage may cause accident.
My friend's GM shock absorbers had also the same problem and when he'd taken it to a mechanic, and have it repaired. After that, the noise was gone

If you're willing, take them out and inspect. Remove the spring, compress the shocks (should take very little effort), and feel/listen for anything strange.
While they're out, move the loose suspension around and also feel/listen.
Replace springs and reassemble. Inspect for clearance issues - dustboots have been known to bind on some models (not sure on the KYB's).
If you don't find anything after this... I'm at a loss...
