how do you know when shocks are blown?

The car will bounce uncontrollably at that corner because the shock isn't damping the spring's motion at all. sometimes hard to tell if it's just one. check for leaks, like fluid coming out of the seals on the shock. Not sure what type of shocks you have, but usually it shows up where the piston rod goes into the shock body itself.
