Default let's talk spherical lca bushings

more specifically these: http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-F...P2134C326.aspx

need to replace the bushings and balljoints in my rsx and trying to decide if i should spend the extra for these or just do energy suspension urethane bushings. car is daily driven and mostly drag raced.

anybody have any experience with these or similar designs on something that's not a track *****?

Personally, i wouldn't go with spherical bearings, its Not worth the extra cost.

I would go with poly, OEM bushings, or hard rubber. All are great choices, but poly is more of a pain

nobody makes hard rubber from what i've seen. the increased caster the spherical's would provide are also a nice benefit as this chassis is lacking in that department in stock form from the reading i've done. cost isnt much of an issue here.

I've run spherical bushings on my street cars before. They DO get loud. It's unavoidable so please go into this knowing they are consumable wear/tear items.

That being said, I think a spherical is the only way around that shitty front LCA design with the bad compliance bushings.

I agree with above... if you can get around that, and justify the cost, go for it. Lol. They will can/ will be loud
Like he said.. Also, I really woundn't expect them to last that long on the streets. But hell, they might. I've heard very good things about the PCI trailing arm bushings. Also, them lasting quite a while on the street with road racing tossed in the mix.

My endlinks suck , they are are super loud.

Your best option is hard rubber or OEM.

Neither poly or spherical will last as long as OEM and both make a lot of noise; if you are okay with either then they might be options but not for most.

if you are serious with your suspension mods and want to be able to get the most out of your vehicle spherical would be the way to go!

Give me a couple weeks and I'll be able to speak on those exact control arms, just for a DC integra. I ordered Kiwi's kit which is just the password parts with his name printed on them. I'm interested to see how things go because they are a sealed design on the LCA.

A DC2 and DC5 don't share the same concerns. The front LCA on a DC5 has a compliance bushing that runs perpendicular to the ground and wears prematurely. It's a common design flaw as Nissan has similar issues.

Poly bushings will tighten the FLCA's up but, poly bushings will cause the FLCA's to bind in their travel arc. If the car was a full time drag car this wouldn't matter. On the street though the binding will hurt the handling and you will chew up the poly bushings. IMO either hard rubber or spherical bearing are the only way to go.

this.

just keep in mind, every sharp bump is ever-so-slightly deforming the "bearings" which are more like a fancy heim joint. so like phunhaus said, they will get loud and will wear out and require replacement. but it's nowhere near as bad as people make it seem.

OMGZ, THEY'LL FALL OUT 2 MILES DOWN DA ROADZ!

simply put, no.

Same here. 15,000 hard miles and they still look and perform great!

looks like hardrace makes hardened rubber bushings but there's not much info on them. their site sucks dick.

nvm lol looks like the prices for the mugen bushings are for just two. for a full set it's more than the pci sphericals.

after going back and forth racking my brain i settled on the energy suspension polys. the money i saved can be put to use elsewhere.

You want rubber. This has been discussed many times. Unless you're straight tracking your car. I'd either go OEM first, Hardrace, or PIC. Although the Hardrace and PIC lca's come in horrible colors.

I still haven't had a problem with the Energy Suspension bushings. While I agree spherical is the best, I don't agree that rubber is superior to polyurethane. Think you are buying a harder rubber, a harder rubber would try to resist change which is what everyone's gripe is with polyurethane. I have ran my ES bushings all throughout the suspension travel range, and they do flex quite a bit and I had no binding issues.
