I got a pair of coilovers and ppl keep tellin me not to install them becasue ill have to adjust them every couple months some iam thinking if i dont adjust them how low will it drop my car.. ? 94' 4dr civic

set them where you want and leave them... ~20k miles on my tein ss's. set once and that's it...

once you set them they stay at that setting, unless their defective.......

If they are brand new they MIGHT settle about 1/8 to 1/4 inch over a few weeks, then they should not really move from there. Who ever told you that does not know what they are talking about and odviously never owned coilovers

exactly. Just set it a bit higher than what you want it to sit at and you will be fine.

but iam installing the coils on myself.. and i never did it before so do you think i will be able to handle it... it looks simple i would just need a spring compressor

you dont really need a spring compresser...but its safer and easier.....you might wanna get some help of friends to do it because help is always nice

the only thing i dont like bout coilovers is that they bounce on bumps and i know its not only me cause i know lots of people who bounce while driving down the road all the time....i wonder what causes this bounce??

Yep, it's easy. Pretty much an unbolt, and rebolt back in process. Get an alignment done afterwards.

Ok you guess saying its safer is making me think like the springs are so compressed that they might fly off . it wont be like that will it..

and does anyone know where i can get directions on how the r1 coilovers are suppose to be setup..

Just take your time. I remember when I couldn't change my suspension. Now I can change them all in less then an hour.

actually they will, so if you dont hav ea compressor....just hold it against a wall when you are loosening then bolt that holds the spring on

How far much is the stock spring compressed...

not dissing on you but it's only people on cheap or mis-matched systems that are bouncing down the street. the car becomes bouncy because the damping force is not great enough for the spring.

teins ss coilovers here. ZERO BOUNCE!

if it is your first time swapping out the suspension get a repair manual. it will help out and give you the needed torque specs...

yeah, i second chris. the reason is primarily that ppl installed adjustable springs over their stock shocks and was too much for the shocks to properly damp. typically, those who would do this are cheap anyway, and probably got their "coilovers" from ebay. those ebay kits are so overly sprung, theyre made to fit everything from crx's to accords, theyre really unsuitable. but even off the shelf ground control kits would be too much to handle for stock shocks.
