Is this a bad wheel bearing?
Hey guys,
Is this whole silver part supposed to move in and out a little bit? The whole hub/spindle moves in and out slightly. Is it supposed to do that or is it supposed to be rock solid? Am I missing anything on the backside like a knuckle ring before I put an axle in? I am thinking once the axle is inserted it will keep the spindle/hub from moving by providing some pressure on it with the end of the axle and the spindle nut, but if it is a bad wheel bearing I'd rather replace it now than take everything apart again.

It just moves slightly. Do you have lube coming out of the wheel bearing? Mine did and mine moved back and forth real bad. Replaced it and everything is fine.
Why do you ask? Hearing rubbing noises coming from the wheels when you drive?

No, no noises yet. I can't get my axle out of the knuckle so I got a new knuckle from a junkyard, and I wanted to make sure that it was ok to have a bit of play in it.
