b.s. REF ticket!! CHP claims "JDM" engine in STOCK LS!
Can anyone chime in about how I can prove it's the stock USDM motor? It's a 1994 Integra LS, the motor says B18b... he says because it doesn't say B18B1 it is JDM?!
Any help appreciated
**OK, looks like I'm the uninformed one... didn't have a F*n clue. Guess it is JDM.
It passes smog every time it's due...
Anyone have a solution to this? Or clarification on how to remedy this without swapping to USDM or paying $500 bucks for a ref ticket?

i thought all USDM integra motors have a number after it
b18 a/b 1
b18 a/b 2
or something along those lines.

Re: (ezark)
go to your local ref and see if it's a legit replacement engine for your car. if not and you have al the req. smog components bar it.

Re: (sbpphoenix)
As long as you show up with all your factory or CARB legal parts your going to be fine. The cop might understand thats its a JDM engine however like writing an exhaust ticket he doesn't understand the law. Having the (specific year and model) Japanese replacement engine isn't illegal much like having an exhaust isn't illegal. It doesn't mean they don't write tickets for it. It does however mean your going to jump thru some hurdles by doing what they say and by going to court.
How do i know this? One BAR'd car and another once i pass at 25 mph.

there's a couple of ways to get out of it, just wutever u do, dont make an appointment with the state ref, they aren't with the court.
One way to get rid of this problem is to write up a fake bill of sale stating that you sold the car to so and so for a number amount of dollars and show the court and they'll wave the ticket off, and after, just throw that bill of sale away.
Another way (i did this myself) I pled guilty and my original fine was $650 and it dropped to $100 and it didnt go on my record and gave me 90 days to pay, but iono how other courts handle it, this is in rancho.....
