Nah', being over 800 miles from home is a VERY long way if anything were to go awry. So I decided against it. Boy I would love to, though.

Welcome aboard.
PS. Andy (SOHCD16y8), please stop with the attendance sheet. There's no need for it. Whether people show or not, is their choice. Not to mention, the first post already has a roster of people that showed interest in the caravan. This isn't a school field trip, bud. No required attendance.

Sorry, I just figured it would be good to have a headcount of cars so people know what to expect. From what I heard last year there were around 10 or so cars that missed the caravan (leaving a group of like 7 or something) because they missed the meet time slightly (the 10 adding up slowly from stop to stop mainly due to the timezone change). That way if we are missing a couple people an extra 10 minute wait could cause the group to grow, etc. I was also thinking that this way everyone would know for sure who got on when so a group gas stops could be arranged, instead of everyone dropping off and trying to catch up.
Sorry agin just trying to help, ill just stay out from now on.

There's a 30 minute buffer going into each checkpoint. Also, if you look at the timing of each leg of the journey, I factored in up to 30 minutes lee-way to make sure people had plenty of time to get to each checkpoint. The reason there was an issue last year, was because of the difference in Time Zone. This is something I have addressed when planning this year's convoy. On the ride down last year, most everyone managed 25+mpg, which would allow for only 1 necessary gas stop if you're coming from Checkpoint 1. I've factored in timing rather thoroughly, so even those with thirstier engines, can make up ground at each checkpoint.
I truly appreciate the willingness to help, but we're not going on a tour here. We're going on an open-based caravan, where people can come and go as they please. Last year everyone stopped for gas as a group, because most everyone had less than a 1/4 tank and thought it beneficial to stop and hang out at the gas station. I would safely assume that this year will be much the same. But, even if there are those who want to push on... that's why I brought affordable walkie-talkies into the equation. That way even those people can stay in contact.

Re: (toyomatt84)
yeah i agree^^
i needed to fill up somewhere between checkpoints two and three. then again when we got down to nashville....
so if you wanted you could plan on leaving chkpnt 2 with about a half tank and then you would be able to stop and fill up with the rest of us somewhere along the way.

Re: (Kurumi)
this may help some of you on what to bring(car wise)
a basic set of tools(sockets deep/shallow common sizes 10mm 12mm 14mm, screw driver, a function jack be it your emergency jack, i bring my low profile jack, key for your locking lugnuts, maybe some wire.)
washing/waxing supplys( your car will be loaded with bugs and whatnot)
i think this year i may tape some areas on my car to help avoid the bugs and rocks. just a thought for each of you
spare key(accidents happen)
before the trip....
change oil
top off or get fluid to correct levels
inspect your suspension components/tires
should help a little too those of you who are virgins to this. lol
