Starting problem...
Hello.. in my 88 prelude S, i am having trouble starting the car. I have a few ideas, but i want to try to narrow down why it is happening. when i attempt to start the engine, often times the car will struggle to start, battery light flashing, and the engine continuously trying to turn over, like starting your car up on a cold cold day--takes longer... it usually takes me 3 tries or less to get it running, but typically takes more after a rainy or cold day. What could be the cause of this? Bad spark plugs/plug installation? i just replaced em..i noticed one of the spark plug wires has a large cut in it...through the jacket and protective padding, exposing the wire. would this be a possible cause? if not this, could it be a battery problem? thanks for any help.
How's it goin. I don't know if this will help any or what but I have a 88 Prelude Si and it does the same thing but only on a hot day. My fan runs a while after I cut my engine off and a couple of people have said it may pull too much power from the battery. I also had a friend who had a 89 Prelude Si that did the same thing but in all kinds of weather he replaced the ignition switch and everything was fine. Hope this sheds some light on your problem.
