Default Idle Air Control Valve

I am throwing a code 14. Which is the IACV. Check the valve. Resistance is with in spec. Got another one for the heck of it and still doing the same thing. Idle sits and jumps up and down rapidly. ANyone know what else might be ther problem if the valve itself is fine but the ecu still throws the code?

soak it in carb cleaner

and you reset your ecu after changing them right?

could be a cut wire? It's either...

A) ECU (99.9% it's not)
B) IACV itself (if you swap known goodie and problem still exists then no)
C) short/break in sensor wires (chase 'em!)

i had a code 14 because my wiring came undone . after taking off the iacv and cleaning it i found out that when i lengthen it, the wire came out of the butt conector.

if you do soak it in carb cleaner... be sure to take the small rubber gasket off. it will warp and distort after soaking... i know this

ROFL, check your wiring.

and those are NOT VACUUM LINES on the bottom, they are coolant lines.

I plan on going through the wiring. I need which pin the wire is in the ECU so I can try bypassing it to check and make sure that is the problem.

ok, new theory. I bypassed the wires from the ECU to the EACV. No change. ECU maybe?

Just because a code 14 comes up doesn't necessarily mean it's the IACV

It can be as simple as low coolant

check the wiring. you can test the ground wire easily. you will see a blk/yel wire. this is ground. use a test wire, connect it and ground the sensor. reset ecu etc..... test

no If it was a short in the wiring somewhre then I bypassed that. Clipped the wire form the eco to the EACV and ran ti directly to the EACV. There by bypassing the wiring harness. My coolant isnt low but why would having low coolant jump my idle up and down? I have had low colant in the other 6 crx I have owned since 99 and never had the idle do this. The only time my idle did this was a blown head gasket, but I never threw any codes. I plan on checking the head gasket this weekend jsut to make sure its not that.
