Default My BIG TURBO Post. High HP D16-T Inside

Im piecing together my turbo setup now, and I found the turbo labelled above for fairly cheap

T3/T4 with .60 Comp. A/R and .80 Turbine A/R

Seems like a ****** large turbo, but my 1.6L D is going to be completely built running a small shot of nitrous along with the boost.

Head is completely built
Milled .040
PnP
3anle valve job
Delta 272 cam
Aem adj cam gear
1mm oversize titanium valves
ferrerea retainers
dual titaunium valve springs

Block is soon to follow
Cp 9:1 Pistons
Undecided on rods, and all block work, might find a pre built one for convienience. Should I sleeve it?

Thats the snail. I honestly had a hp goal of 300whp because this car is going to be daily driven and I want a good stop light racer that wont be a slug off of the line on street tires.

Im absolutely new to boost and have only been spraying for one, year. I plan to run Turboedit

I just want some advise if I should go for this turbo and spray on it for quicker spool and major hp numbers or if I should settle for something smaller? Or is my plans concievable

Ill be running a shitbird equal length manifold, 12X 24X 3 Intercooler, HKS SSQ BOV, unkownd wastegate size

Im limited to 93 octane gas

Thanks

that dont look like a T3 Turbine...for a 300hp goal get rid of that turbo go with something smaller on the turbine side..like a precision SC50.

yeah,I'm pretty sure its not a T3...I think its a straight up T4 with a Tang/Divided Euro (Small flange) Housing...but I'm no turbo expert, lets see who else agrees

yep, definitely looks like a t4 turbine, way too big to be t3.

Swap the turbine housing for one with a smaller a/r.

That's a T4 hot side. It gonna be a laggy bitch on that little engine. Better spray the **** out of it.

Also, you cant just swap turbine housings unless the housing are internally setup for the same turbine wheel. Like, you cant put a housing cut for a T350 on a P trim turbine wheel.

Where did I say you could just swap it for any turbine housing? I'm well aware they have to be set up for the same turbine wheel.

you got screwed, that is the leftovers from a T3/T4. usually you'd want a t3 exhaust housing and a t4 compressor housing, whereas yours is the opposite.

did you happen to buy that on ebay? a certain seller (ssautochrome) has been known to sell those, along with a bunch of other crap.

GL w/ that thing, I'd put money on it tha your D-series can't even spool it up. and if it does it will not be till 6500 rpm or so.

yah... GL to him... a T3 SC61 on my built Y8 (9.6:1 cr, p&p head, 2.5" dp) made full boost @ 5500rpm... imagine that big monkey

Like everyone has said, that appears to be a T4 turbine housing. Which IMHO is WAY too big. Typically, on a B18B, anything over a .63 is super laggy, so I can imagine that on a D16. A lot of things you want are very contrasting...

- limited to 93 octane
- you want a stoplight racer
- you're going to use nitrous
- wondering if you should sleeve
- T4 turbine (unknown trim) with an insane a/r for a daily driven D16 rpm limit

I'd sit back and think about this a bit.

I didnt buy the turbo, I also had suspicion about the seller so I backed out

I would have changed my setup and added xylene to my fuel to get out of the 93 octane slump, spray on it. **** sleeves

But I think Im just gonna go with what I always wanted an go high compression (12:1) with a 100-125 shot. Already have the nitrous so I only have to work about getting out all the ponies I can out of this motor

Just bought a Bisimoto header, skunk2 intake mani and looking for a 68mm t/b

wrong, idea, go with low compression, and just get yourself a smaller turbo. like a 60/63 T3, that'd do the job just fine. hey, even spray on it if you feel so inclined.
