Default Which one is better ?

hey guys! How does the b16 tranny work on the ls ? I've heard that Its pretty quit if you you do the ls with b 16 tranny, but dont know much about it. I'm still learning. My car is 95 Ls. Which tranny would be the best for it? CTR or SI? and from what year?. How is it on the freeway? Does it eat gas alot more? Do I have to change or fix anything when I put the b16 tranny in?. and uasually how much does it cost? thanks alot...............

yes, this will make your LS quicker. The freeway is going to suck, though. I have heard that the revs will be right around 4 - 4.5K at normal freeway speeds, and you will top out at ~ 110.

from 1st-4th is great! but the b16 5th gear is too short for ls on the freeway. So can i use my ls 5th gear on the b16 ?

^if your really want to venture into replacing gears (not reccomended unless you know quite a bit about tranny's)
if you dont do a lot of freeway driving, i would do it
if you do and dont mind being at 4400 RPM at 65-70 then i would do it as well
it will be a decent improvement in acceleration opposed to your LS tranny

i got a b16 tranny on my LS and i love it....brought new life to the car, it does kinda suck on the highway but its not too bad...i heard a gsr tranny is little longer though so u can think of that as an alternate if u do alot of highway driving..

will it be a bit differ about gsr and b16 tranny on the ls? which one is better ? why dont people go with the b18 instead of b16 ? the gsr gears are a lil bit longer that doesnt suck gas as much as th b16 does, but what about the fast acceleration ?

on my GSR tranny, at 4000 RPM im at 80mph. http://www.bseries.net/index.php
if you go on this website, top of the opening page, click on specs, then scroll down to b-series tranny specs, it will tell you all about every tranny, the tranny code, and how tall or short each gear is, its very helpful.

it can be done.

Stock B16/ITR tranny ~4400 RPM at 80 MPH.

GSR 80 MPH at ~4000 RPM

personally, i wouldnt put an B16 tranny on an LS unless you plan on LSVTEC soon after.

LS tranny or GSR with turboed LS would be great.
