AC Condensor Fan

My Condensor fan is inoperative. What is its purpose if anyone can tell me? How much does it cost to replace. can i do it on my own?

Its purpose is to draw air into the radiator like thing when sitting idle. Yes of course you can do it yourself and replace it. I got a slim one and made it a pusher to give me more room in my engine bay.
