Gotta love them dealer oil changes!
Went to the dealer that I purchased my 99 GS from to get an oil change and some warranty work. I checked my oil and found this.

Nice, huh? This was shortly after starting and stopping the engine so the oil level could of been even higher than that. I also saw bubbles on the dip stick so that's tells me that the oil was foaming because it was overfilled. I wonder if I did any engine damage from driving it home.
I didn't make a thread to moan and bitch, but I though it was somewhat funny.

Well, you know dealers have like one or two good mechanics, and then a bunch of traniee's working under them.
All the better mechanics work for independent shops.

drain a little.
just because its a dealership, doesn't mean ****. they still have humans working on cars just like everywhere else. lube tech, usually do the oil change. same skill level as any oil changer place.

It's not the techs! It's the dealer or the guns are not measuring correctly.
Part of the problem is that they don't drain the old oil all the way. Soon as it slows down, they put the plug back on. The tech's probably fill the engine using the maximum capacity specs.

I assume you took the dipstick out, wiped it off, then put it back and and pulled it back out again before taking that pic right? Because the engine will slosh the oil up higher on the dipstick right after it had been running.

FYI, I know how to check my oil. I had my car for 5 years.
The oil was checked before I started the car and after. I let the car sit for a min or two before I checked it again.

So, if a tech fills the engine with oil, why in the world would he not fill to the fill line and just throw in oil blindly?? That's a bad tech practice, I'm sorry to say! I'd blame em! You can't expect to fill to the normal oil change capacity specs blindly, and not check the level.

not to rag on you. but you did not mention. pull the dipstick out, wipe it, stick it back in, then pull it out to check the level.

You should change your oil yourself. Now you have to get under there anyway and drain some out.
Secondly that oil looks a lil dirty to have been just changed. Mine usually looks like that after 2kmiles when I change it.

How the hell else or you suppose to check the oil? Anyway, if the car has been sitting all night, you don't have to restick the oil pan.

change the oil yourself. my bf used to work at a lube place and they had this "special" oil change, the "premium lube" or something, where they just wiped the filter and poured some more oil in. heh. i just got my car and after all the stories ive heard from him, i plan on doing it myself.
wow,,,dealer did that??damnnn (they though that u dont know anything about car so they tricked u...like they mess up ur engine so u go there fix..they get money from u..simple game..haha..i bet local shop do better job for oilchange)
u paid for a service they should be able to perform a simple service properly if they cant they shouldnt be working there... glad some1 caught lazie *** workers not doin work properly
