hey,

Last Saturday (apr 22) i got my oil changed. I used Mobile 1 5/30. Today I drove to work and just out of curiosity decided to check how it looks like. I got some of it out in a small vial to compare it with the brand new oil, and oil from the engine looks WAY darker... Since the change I drove 30mi. Can the oil get that dark so fast? Or the bastards did not change it at all? The oil that was in the engine before was also mobile 1 5/30...

im guessing when you say "bastards" that you didn't change it yourself (big mistake). changing oil is easy and you should do it yourself. but about the way the engine oil looks. ofcoars its gona be darker than the oil right out of the can. your allways gona have a little oil left in your engine no matter how well you drain it unless you take apart the engine and clean every part.

if they didnt get all the old oil out it can mix with new oil giving it a darker hue
this is common.

yeah you should be fine. next time just change the oil yourself if you dont trust anyone else doing it

you're stupid, he just said he only drove 30 miles.

the oil is dark because it mixes with old oil already in the car. even after draining all your old oil you can pour new oil in and leave the drain plug open when it comes out its darker already

when I change my oil/filter in my D16y8 the mobil 1 stays pretty golden untill about 5-6k miles. Then it starts to get dark/dirty.

I mean I can barely see it on the dipstick for the first few thousand miles. Stays clean.

I was getting the same thing for years- it cleared up when I cleaned the inside of the oil pan of all the sludge (I had to replace the gasket).
Boy did my engine like the new gasket.

old oil, new oil, Synthetic tends to get dark real fast. Now for the education... oil color dosnt mean much, as long as you changed the filter it will take care of the particles big enough to hurt the enginge. If ya want a real education check out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/
