Default VTEC Hesitation

I'm hoping someone here can help me. Here's the problem. At times, once VTEC engages, the motor feels as if it's stumbling through the VTEC RPM range as if it's almost starving for air or fuel or it's being turned on and off. The motor is strong up until ~5500, VTEC kicks in, and stumbles all the way to 6500. Has anyone encountered this? Thanks guys.

Is it cutting off at 6500 rpms?

I had somewhat of the same problem, with fuel cutoff at 6500 rpms, it was because of my VTEC pressure switch.

Check your codes!

Common problems-

1. Dirty solenoid
2. Low oil pressure

low oil pressure. Try not to hit vtech until you have the right amount of oil

yeah that happens to me from time to time, i think vtec needs a minute to warm up or whatever, i remember goin vtec about 2 minutes after i turned on my car, and the motor was cold, and vtec was skipping until i shifted, so just give it a good 10 - 15 minutes or so

I know I've read of multiple reasons for that type of Vtec problem, but the only time that it happened to me it ended up being my a/f, it was running super rich before I tuned.

Thanks for all yor help guys!

There's no fuel cut-off at 6500... I just stop because I think I'm causing some type of damage. I haven't engaged VTEC for a while now, but I haven't thrown a CEL code for anything yet.

Where's the solenoid located? And how is it cleaned? Thanks guys.
