ok so i got a code 5 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor so i go check my engine bay and i have a map on the top of the throttle body and one on the firewall. the one on the firewall has the hoses cut and are plugged up with screws. thats not right. right?? where do those go to?? and what should i do??? please help my car feels real sluggish and backfires real bad and i dont know what to do. i have a 92 civic dx with a d16z6 swapped in(previous owners did it).

My MAP thats on the firewall is closed up like that, but also its not wired up either. Yours might still be wired up so its throwing that code.

If you could get a picture i could tell you were each one does. I just tried typing it up but it makes no ******* sense without a picture sorry

 

 

Thats really messy first thing i would do is clean it off. Then this is how my map sensor goes. Its just hosed to itself and then one open and its good to go. Heres 2 pictures.

Try this and see if that works, yours is to messy to see what goes to what. Also look around the manifold and see if you see any vaccum leaks or any spots that are without a hose.

did you reset the computer?

 

I had the same problem with my gsr swap...What i did was disconnect from the firewall map sensor and connect to the throttle body, then reset the computer.

i did that and poof no more cel or backfiring and my idle is normal now.
