DIY Harness bar...
I"m not sure if this has been brought up before, but I searched and found nothing so here it goes.
has anyone attempted to or actually fabricated some sort of harness bar, similar to the new sparco ones? it doesnt seem like it'd be that hard to replicate, but I've never really tried anything like this.
ANY thoughts/ideas/input is appreciated.
heres a pic of the sparco unit for reference :

yea it looks like a pretty "simple" piece, but like i mentioned, i dont know too much about this kind of stuff.
you'd probably have to use DOM steel or whatever its called right?
I'm going to have a friend draw up some plans, and make a couple "prototypes" and see how that works out..
any more input?

A guy I work with is going to teach me MIG, we're probably going to weld a roll bar for mine if I can figure out how the bolt in ones bolt in, that way I can run solo I.

looks pretty simple! i wouldnt use rod end to mount the up bars though. seems kinda silly to use a rod end being that it allows movement to the mounting points. not sure if thats how they are set up but by the pictures i have seen i think thats right. i would probably use a solid eye rod end. but this is just my opinion!

I could see using the heims on a street car, you don't want to put too much stress on the B-pillar when it is un-necessary. I'd hard mount it in my car though, and just be pissed at myself down the road if I damaged the car in any way.
Its easy to do just get 2 plates and mount them on your exisiting upper seat belt mounts
then weld the bar inbetween those mounts
use DOM for the tubing
but make sure you can get harness to enter the seat at the least possible angle. then if you need to you can add those down tubes to help the bar from rotating or pulling forward.
If your making a harness bar I wouldn't use heim joints or anything that has threads, just weld everything.
But I would suggest NOT wearing a harness without roll over protection(roll bar or cage)

what about one for a 90-91 civic? you can use the c-pillar since the b has no belt mount, extend it forward and use the rear seats lower belt mounts for the arms.
