Default Not getting a spark

I have a 98 Integra and am not getting a spark. I did all the checks such as the main relay, pulled it out and ran a continuity test that is outlined in the service manual. I checked the pin to ECU to make sure I was getting battery voltage. I checked to make sure I have a good line to the igniter and the ECU, checked good. I replaced the igniter and the main coil with new from O'reilly's Auto Parts. Still no spark. So what could it be my ECU or distributor? Anyone?

Does your headlights go on? How about the power items inside your car? It could be your alternator or you might just have dirty oil that needs to be changed. Does it even crank?

How is dirty oil going to prevent a car from getting spark??

I brought my g2 to the dealers once to get it checked out. My g2 was starting up with problems and other times it didn't even start up. The guy at the dealer asked when was the last time I changed my oil. I said to myself WTF? Oil? I replied back saying that I just bought the car. All he did was change the oil and replace the oil filter and I never had any problems after that.

I am sorry, but thats lame, oil preventing a spark. That may be the case for this individual and no offense to him for his post, is there more knowledge on this site than this? I am new here and first time I am exposed to this site.

I had this problem the past couple of months on my 89 Integra. I couple of things were actually happening. One problem was bad cap and rotor, but this only REDUCED the spark, not prevented it altogether. My problem was intermittent and your problem sounds consistent. BAsically I would fully analyze all the electrical contacts. Start at the plugs and work you way back. Basically it sounds like a bad contact problem for me it wa s aloose wire on the igniter. The Igniter had beeen replaced in the past and the wire improperly reconnected to the igniter module. I crimped the wire, and secured it in the holder and the problem was solved!!!!

Wow, oil is the last item I would check, unless the engine didn't crank.

I took it to Acura nad they tryed to say it was the ECU that was bad. They were going to charge me $85 to diagnose it. Getting it towed there cost $70. The guy said that there is a 50% chance that would fix the problem. He said that would be $750 for a new module and 2 hours to install it. I was like "FRIKEN WHAT?" it takes 10 minutes working at a snails pace to replace it. I found someone local (salvage yard) who let me borrow a ECM out of a 98 integra (Automatic, mine is a standard) and a 99 civic one. I tried both and neither started the motor. The guy was standing there when I did it. I said to him "So what was the MISS diognosis fee that I owe?" He talked to his manager and they said forget about the fee. I am getting it towed home tomorrow and will work on it myself further. My next step is to install a rebuilt distributor I bought from O'Reilly's Auto Parts today. Provided that there is not a conflict with my car and the 2 ecm's I tried at the dealer. Any thoughts?
