Default Z-10 Catch Can questions?

Okay I think this weekend I will finally put on the fitting that goes into the back of the block for the z-10 catch can set up. I was under there looking around and my motor did not have the black box. Not sure if it just did not come with it or if it was removed before I got the motor. It is a 95 ls.

My question is what size or what tool do I need to remove the fitting that is in the block? Also when I screw in fitting from z-10 should I put telflon tape or honda bond on the threads before screwing it in. Also what should I tq the fitting to?

I've found posts that say it's a 14mm hex tool. Search on the Endyn setup to see for yourself.

I've never seen anything as far as torque settings, so if someone knows this, I'd like to hear it too.

I just did the endyne setup yesterday, what a pain. It is a 14mm hex socket thing, I found one at autozone believe it or not for like 8 bucks. But I got mine for free since my friend works there, just used it and then took it back to him. I didn't use any torque specs of teflon tape, the endyne fittings had some sort of coating or sealant on them. Overall the install was a pain in the ***, but I did it with a giant hangover

LOL

So were you able to get those bitches off while the motor was in the car? I've heard of guys taking off the IM to get at them. How'd you do it?

Yes, I did it with the motor still in the car, it can be done. It just took some patience, you gotta remove the bracket thats attached to the intake manifold to get enough room to work. I'd say the hardest part was working with the old top port that used to vent to the black box, it had to me removed and plugged

I will take some pics when I get back home and show you. The back of my motor looks like it is missing some stuff. I can easily reach up there and get to the hex thing. I don't have a black box for some reason.

What freeze plug did you remove?

From under the car, was it to the left or right of the oil filter? I bet you used the one to the right, this one will make the can fill up with oil faster. Most people use this one cause it's easier to get to.

I did not remove any of them yet. I went under to check it out the other day and I saw the black box was not there. I was like hum where is it. I will take pics to show you what I mean.

I'm pretty sure the ls motor didn't come with the black box, as far as the can filling up, I haven't had a problem with this, but its a gsr block and I was sure to mount the can as high as possible, besides the endyne setup has a drain back for any collected oil. Just grab the damn wrench pull both plugs, put the fittings in, mount the can high and run the hoses

my other ls motor had the black box on it. Not sure why this one doesn't. So did you put anything on the threads? How tight did you tight did you tighten the fittings? I am afraid I will snap it, and then be sol

The endyne fitting had some sort of coating on the threads, I figured that was a sealant of some sort. I just tightened the to 1.5 grunts

My 95 Ls had a black box on it. Make sure you have a big breaker bar (steal Pipe) to put onto the end of the allen wrench because the two plugs were in there super tight. The install seems easy, but due to the fact that theres no room in that area and the plugs are so tight in there, its a pain in the ***. Took me a whole day!

Okay I am going to do this tommorw. Should I take the left or the right fitting out? I only have one fitting so it is either the left or the right. Will it make a difference which one I use?

Put the fitting in the right side vent chimney (the one closest to the flywheel) ,this will have the least amount of oil in it ,in an LS application,in a GSR this one has only air in it as the drivers side one is the rear oil drain. If you have any further questions ,please feel free to ask. Thanks
