ABS light
ABS light stays on every second time I start the car. Sometimes when the ABS light is on, the tach bounces all over the place. When ABS light is out, tach works fine. Could the brake system, especially the ABS, unit need bleeding??? Pedal is a little spongy but not bad.

Pedal pressure feels the same to me, matter a fact, it feels a tad firmer since the light started staying on.
Where exactly is the ABS modulator, is it that thing behind the passenger side headlamp with all those brake lines going to it?
How do i check it anyway?

the abs modulator is located on passenger fire-wall........ to check: buy white powder tracing spray can from pep boy or auto zone, have the modulator clean real good and spray that powder tracing all over it, start the engine and drive your around blocks for about 15min with sometime hit brake hard. come back check for leak. and let me know what you find.
I dont think thats where it is dude, ive been fooling around and on my 00 V6 coupe its behind the passenger side headlight, next to the brake fluid thingy, there is nothing but fuse boxes and AC lines by the firewall, on that side.
fukit tho, ill just take it to the dealer or something eventually.

Honda used different ABS systems over the years, & put the modulators in different places. Sometimes this forum gets caught up talking about different years.
Beginning in '98 they were using a system without an accumulator, so I believe the little seal that Rotary's talking about doesn't exist on your car. The ABS modulator is a block with a bunch of steel brake lines going to it. One end looks like a sealed electric motor.
The older system had a fluid reservoir & a bleeder screw. It had a steel cylinder called an accumulator & a little o-ring at the bottom where it's attached to the modulator.

most definately, thats exactly what i thought that thing was, but what the hell do i do wtith it, what checks can i make, i already used pressurised air to blow out the connector pins.
I thnk im gonna just leave it alone till i get the error codes read.

Check out a sticky on top of the Integra forum. You short the SCS connector just like you do for reading the ECU error codes. I don't know whether there's a connector (ouside of OBD-2) on 6th-gen Accords. If the OBD-2 connector is the only way to get 6th-gen codes, I don't know whether that will trigger the ABS to display IT'S codes. If it works, let us know.
All this cool information comes from the Helm book, so if you can get your hands on one...

Thanks dude, but i have an idea of what your talking about but i dont have a code reader thing to dispay it anyway. unless this method your telling me spilts the code thru the radio or something.
On my '95 Integra there's a wire connector tucked up above the right kick-panel. You short it with a paper clip & the check-engine light flashes its code. The ABS light flashes it's own code at the same time. (Whichever one or both have any stored errors.)
OBD-1 Accords had a wire like that somewhere (ashtray??), but I never owned one of those. I haven't found one on my '98 Accord, but there's a couple pins you can short together on the OBD-2 connector. I don't know whether THAT causes the ABS to display its error codes??
