Drain the oil from the pan, uninstall the filter, fill new filter half way with oil, put oil on the o-ring, reinstall filter, reinstall oil pan bolt and pour oil in.

you want some oil in the oil filter so that when you start up the car there can be some oil through that area if the angle of the filter is extreme.

I agree, safety first, your life is on the line.

I thought the filter was "primed" so the pump doesn't take so long to pressurize the system. When you first start the engine after an oil change there is no oil pressure, so your "Oil" light will be on. It should/better go out after 5 seconds or so. Longer then that means there's probably not enough oil in the pan.

I have never gotten an oil light when I've changed my oil... not even for a second.

How much is too tight cuz im about to change my own oil soon. Also about how much oil do I need to buy? and this question must be real retarded but im gonna ask to make sure. On the oil dip stick there are two dots, so im suppose to fill it up til its between those two dots?

I tighten my filter hand tight, then give it another 1/4 turn.
There is a quart of oil difference between the two dots. Fill it so that when cold and the car is level, the oil comes up to the 2nd dot.

hand tighten the filter as much as possible. torque down the drain bolt though. I think it's 45NM if you have a torque wrench.
You'll probably need between 4-5 quarts and you want to fill it up to the top dot. I know SI is 4.5Q

h22 is 5 quarts. if you dont want to risk screwing with your car, why dont you take it to get an oil change? although they are easy to do, it might be better in your case to just spend the $15 dollars to have them change everything.
they change oil and filter AND windex your windows and mirrors for you... if you find the right place sometimes they will throw in a free car wash too!
