Default Engine Help

I have a 89 crx, with a 92-95 d16z6. brand new 16g turbo from a eclipse, 450 cc injecters, dsm fuel pump, hondata s200 p28 ecu. street tuned alittle only for full throttle right now, runs alittle rich on low to mid throttle. d15 vtec cam. problem is, i just put new piston rings in the motor, runs stong when warm, been doing the break in cycle, car is tuned for 9psi right now, but only been pushin it to 5 then shifting. but has been smoking alot and burning some oil when cold then stops after a while of driving. i have been told that you need 400-500mile break in period but also heard that the rings are broke in after about 10min. if this is true. what do you think is causing the oil burning to happen in the cold. need suggestions!!!! thank you

The piston rings are probably gapped too big. When it's cold, the oil burns but once the engine warms up, the piston rings expand from the heat...so the burning goes away.

Break-in takes a few mins. Not 500+ miles ..
