How much oil would leak if ***URGENT***
I was missing a bolt on the oil pan? Theoretically i mean. I broke one off and I'm just wondering if I can drive it to a mechanic tomorrow. The mechanic is 12 miles away.

And where can i go get this bolt drilled out? I was going to take it to an exhaust shop that does auto repair also. I figure they'll have all the tools needed and then some. Who's got any ideas?
did the bolt break when you where tightening it or loosing it off. If you remove the oil pan the bolt should stick out some. If it is than just use a plier to twist it off. But to remove the oil pan you need to remove the header and the black tranny cover by the oil pan.
The bolt broke on the wat out but nothing sticking out. I tried the pliers couldn't grab anything. I figure oil will just seep out a little at a time but, I'm not sure. How basd do loose oil pans normally leak?
Just drive it around and check for leaks. Even if it did leak any.. I don't think it'll be that much, so you can definately drive around enough to find out if it'll leak.

I agree you will be fine. Just keep up on checking your oil. I doubt it will even leak that bad if at all. It is not like the oil pan gasket is under constant pressure.
By they way you can save some money if you go buy som easy outs.
Here is what they look like. I would have given you a link to sears but their site is under maintainence

I suck with a drill too but if you use a punch you can usually keep the drill bit from dancing around the surface you are drilling on. Start with a small drill bit and work your way up. Anyway good luck.
when i installed my oil pan I didn't re-tq all the bolts after i ran the car for a while. I checked the oil pan 6-8months later and 3 or 4 of the bolts had threaded themselves out. No problems what so ever though, the seal was still tight. I did get replacement bolts like the next day.
So i say you won't have any major problems driving 12 miles

Well I got friend coming to flat bed it to the mechanic tomorrow morning and he's going to get the bolt out, put the oil pan back on and the downpipe for $40, so its cool now. Thanks for all the input though guys.
