Couple questions !!
Honda-tech
throughout the last couple of monthes i have been researching on what car
i want to get next... my choices were TurboII rx-7 Crx hf and a 1993-1995 civic.
i think i have made the right decision and chose the civic. but i dont know a whole
lot about them... This is going to be my first car that is gonna be mine ( so i wont
be driving my parents cars ) and i want to get a good knowledge about the car so
when i get it in a month or so i know what im doing to it... Questions:
1. What do you guys think is the best model to get and "make faster" for a budget of about 7-8,000 $$. ( I will be doing all of the installing for the most part my self with a friend that owns a shop )
2. Are my goals of about 220 whp and ***torque depending on which engine i choose to buy considerable for the budget i have of 7-8 grand...
3. Also what kind of times am i looking at on the quarter mile with the above power and a completely stripped interior except for 2 seats.
Thanks
also opinons are welcome as to what engine are most suitable for my car/pricerange.

Good choice.
5th gen Civic's are light so fast you'll be if you make a few good picks when it comes to engine mod's.
Find a civic in good condition and don't worry too much about what model it is, especially if you're going to do the swap. Look for rust, and check for suspicious work done on the body so that the previous owner hasn't fooled you when it could have been crashed.
If you got around 7000 just for hp building, 220whp is very do-able, and with that budget you could do it with FI methods and NA aswell. All depending on the swap.
Good luck and keep us posted on problems / progress

id get an ex just cuz i luv having my sunroof, but u can get a b18c for prob $4000-4500 installed, was the 7-8k to buy the car 2 cuz if it is ull prob have some left over n get a decent suspension
try and find a cx hatch in decent condition, they are light and should be cheap. Then drop in a K20a or a K24 block from a tsx with a Type S head on it, that could in your price range...well maybe, prices vary on the K's cause they're hard to find and the car itself's price will range too....
with your budget get a 92-95 civic hb cx(lightest)/dx/si(heaviest) if you like the hatches or coupe I'd go w/ the dx hatch. Throw a k-series in it. It will look clean, you'd be one of the few, and you'd reach your goal pretty easy and go higher when need be.

Thanks for the responses:
my only concerns are that im new to engine swapping in honda's and a k20 is not the easiest one to do. correct me if im wrong. but i basically want a 13 flat 1/4 mile car with some nice rims and a dropped suspension at most.
My question now is that is it better to go N/A with the given money i have or FI which if i do i would obviously fabricate myself. Thanks.

FI IMO. But this is a topic you will never get an answer in. There are some die hard FI's in here and some die hard All motor in here. I like both, but prefer FI over all motor.
And learn a bit more about honda...then swap a k20. There's a few how-to's running around read and learn. YOu will love yourself for it!

sounds good:
but if i were to go FI would this be a reliable daily driver, or i am gonna come across many problems before i get it to run right... i Just want a car that will keep up with my friends ( rx-7 TT with basic bolt-ons and 240sx with sr20det with some other stuff ) im not that big of a racer, but i like going fast and testing my cars limits. thanks again.
Also... if i were to go N/A what are some of the major things i could do to a ( lets say b18c ) to make the horsepower / torque raise a good amount...

for FI and be pushing about 220whp it should be reliable w/ a small turbo and good set up. You shouldn't have much turbo lag either cause of small turbo.
for NA you'd get stuff like higher comp. pistons, cams, maybe stroke it. . .list goes on for both really.
