Default how much for head swap?

topic says it all...
for a gsr head im getting is gonna be around 400 and for labor they said they want around 1000.... they are gonna change my ECU unit code and all so is that a good price or should i find another place to do it (i would call other stores but i dont kno there names and the places are like 2 or 3 hours away)

thats a fuc*in lot of money. in my opinion, do it yourself and learn something new and save $1000

you figure....a good wrencher would take maybe 2-3 hours at most for the job...some can do it 40 minutes if needed. Cleaning the mating surfaces, new head gasket etc...GOing rate at a shop is 75 a hour....I'd say 300 bucks max.
Honda flat rate for a 99-00 Si is 3.6 hours for a head gasket replace....be same amount of time to swap heads basically.
