Default My F23-T update

Hi everyone-

I'm settling in to my dorm room at Macalester in beautiful St. Paul Minnesota. As I sit here, oil is slowly dripping from my car.

What's wrong with it?

The guy that did the turbo install on my car f'ed a lot of stuff up. He didnt actually weld my oil pan and now it's leaking. The turbo smokes oil and it pours out of the engine compartment. The BOV no longer makes its 'pshhhhhh' sound. They crossthreaded a bolt on my turbo. The air filter isnt on. It runs rich and I dont feel boost because of it's f'ed up fuel tuning.

What's the good part?

The piping looks great and the intercooler is a spanky Apex'i unit, a really top of the line IC. I have my car back after 2.5 weeks of sitting and 3 days of working on it.

What's my solution?

I took it to my honda technician at the local dealership who used to work a lot of Volvos and he looked over my car, wrote up what was wrong with it, and now i'm more informed of how f'ed up my car actually is. It will now go to Autowerks or Payn Technologies near me to be fixed. Replace anything that's wrong, put in a nice S-AFC, etc. My parents are paying for it up front and I won't be getting a christmas present and now i'm even more broke than before to finish up the balance.

If my car can't be fixed, it will be returned to stock (minus an aftermarket header), which will suck but at least I'll have a car that works.

Hopefully by the time i' m back home on Christmas break, i'll be driving a boosted Accord. Until them, i' m miserably pissed about the botched job. Fw190----i'm not mad at you at all for finding this guy for me---just dont ask him to do anything but work on Nissans

I'll update with pictures when it's done.

Good luck to the rest of you, and i'll still be posting

Ben

Best of luck to you. Hopefully everything will get fixed that needs fixing. Guess the old saying is pretty true. If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself... or be able to lay a smackdown on the guy that did it for you

I wanted to talk to him as well, but I dont particularly trust his 'repairs' if the original job wasnt done well. He seems to be nothing close to professional in his business dealings. He was really cool and I trusted him initially but I dont want any more **** going wrong so i'm going to take it somewhere where it'll be done right.

ya 'monetary' was the word i was thinking. atleast get him to pay for or replace the crap thats going to have to get tossed in the trash. if anything take him to small claims court to help out with the money its going to cost repairing what was fucked.

yea it should work out either way stock or boosted. Nothings worse than having my parents have to deal with a broken car leaking oil in their garage and taking up space so it'll get fixed quick haha

I'd give out the name of the guy that did work but he could so me for 'defamation of character' or something, just be careful wherever you go and scope out the place first.

Originally quoted by me in my first post:

"My parents are paying for it up front and I won't be getting a christmas present and now i'm even more broke than before to finish up the balance."

Actually, i'm very grateful to them for taking time out of their jobs to drive the car to a shop and then paying for it. UP FRONT, if you didnt know, means they'll pay for everything at once for me. The christmas present part means that I wont be getting a christmas present and instead the money will go to my car. And the broke part "TO FINISH UP THE BALANCE" is me raiding my bank account.

I'm glad you fully read my post before you went off and bitched about how I have it done for me. People around me can get thousands of dollars at a time from their parents to work on their cars and I scrape enough money together to get an Apex'i WS exhaust. I lag behind because I work and pay for everything myself. I busted my *** to save enough money for this and even went into my college spending account to pay the balance on the labor.

So in short, i'm broke, paying for repairs, and you can't read.

What exactly was the purpose of that post? I pay for everything I do and have never had help from my family. But it would be nice, and for those who have it I envy you. It must be nice. Just because someone has decent parents who can help their kid out doesn't mean that person has done anything wrong or that they aren't as good as anyone else. I'm not gonna argue about this anymore, just had to respond to that.

On the topic, have you talked to the guy yet? If not just tell him what is wrong and see what he has to say about it. He should back up his work. Good luck.

ar..I am not gonna go over all your personal matters but if the motor is burning alot of oil(assumping it's from the turbo alone), it could be that you welded the outlet of the oil line to the oil pan too high. Usually people tap the oilpan as high as they can, run it for sometime and your good turbo seal will be gone

Cool 2+2, thanks for the info! I'll check that out and tell anyone that will work on it the same.

BTW- for the 2nd time- my parents are paying for it up front as with a loan- i will pay it back. It's just hard to coordinate payments from 14 hrs away...
