Default Foam Filter Oil

Can I use UNI foam filter oil from the spray can to oil my K&N filter, is there any known advantage to using K&N's oil for filters?

K&N filteres are a "gauze" correct? I didn't know they were oiled. If so, probablly regular motor oil. I use AMSOIL, which is a tad better, its a foam, uses their oil. I still reccomend K&N, although amsoil is better, its hard to find, took me 3 months, and they arent usually sold in common stores.

I would use the K&N recharge kit. It comes with a special cleaner and new red colored oil.

I agree but I have heard that K&N oil is actually ATF. I have used ATF on my K&N before and it worked exactly the same filtering dirt well.

But do you think Foam Filter Oil would be suited for a K&N car filter? I suppose I could spend the extra $10 or whatever it is for K&N's.

Ya I wouldn't use the foam filter oil on the K&N, I pretty sure that it would hurt the flow ability as the 2 filter medias are quite different.

ATF huh? I didn't know that.

I have used hand cleaner to clean the K&N filter and it works as good as the spay crap in the filtercharger kit.

I bought a can of Bel Ray filter oil and it has lasted a LOOONNNG time

Can anyone confirm or refute this? I've got some filter oil and I don't think that it's anywhere NEAR the same as good ol Amsoil or regular 10W30. I also don't believe that it's ATF until someone can prove that it is.

Well, K&Ns are gauze but as far as the filtercharger oil being ATF? Who knows? ATF will work as filter oil but I am concerned about it's effect on the rubber parts of the filter

pesky 5 post limit. Save that crap for someone else.
