I'm wondering if anyone has relocated their oil filter on their civics.

I'd like to do this for two reasons:

1) Make it easier to access the filter
2) Increase the amount of oil the the engine can use

If anyones done this through a kit or some custom fabrication, please let it be known here.

1)maybe yes
2)it won't increase the amount of oil your engine can use, you can opt for a bigger oil filter, which will make it filtrate better. But then again you could just get a s2000 oil filter and call it a day.

only reason is to make oilchange go alot quicker cause the filter is a bitch to get off somtimes

Yep. The main reason is to make it easier for oil filter changes. The other option does add to the volume of oil your engine can use (particularly if you run and external cooler and extra plumbing).

So are there commercially available relocater kits?

Yes, Greddy makes them I think, there are also other places that do. you could also probably find them at Summit Racing or even B&M.

first of all how in the hell would you do this
second of all it would take massive amounts of time money(more itme than youd ever spend changing oil without it relocated)
and lastly how lazy are you!!!!!

Actually this is convinient for ppl like me who live in NYC and can't safely work under the car on the Streets. Besides, from the kits that I've seen, it doesn't take that long to install, you could do while you change your oil the next time.

well how you gonna drain it without getting under it..
i actually think it would be good on really low 5th gens cause when they are low its harder to reach over the subframe to the oilfilter.
ever seen those oil plugs that have a tiny spot attached and you turn them and the oil comes right out the spout and is way cleaner.
that way you dont have to get oily removing and installing the plug. and eventually wering out your pan threads

How about you let me decide my reasons for this rather than you shooting yer mouth off like the ******* that you sound like!

I thought this forum is for gathering and sharing information, not about flaming people you hardly know!!

ya mine is relocated i love it, easy *** oil changed, cost me like 100 bucks in parts

i am also runing a b&M oil cooler, i got the relating kit and cooler for 200 install, i tryed installing it myself but it keept leaking, so i had a shop deal with the leak, runing good for 12k miles now
like 6 oil changes

i use b&M cooler and greddy lines, there **** didn't fit my civic, i also used a greddy adapter, no leak with a oil guage as well

1. safer(see reason 4)
2. if YOU don't need it, don't post... no one cares if YOU don't need it.
3. jack up the driver side, put oil catch under there, and drain. Plug it up. With the kit, the filter is in a easier to reach place. Replace it real quick, add oil and go.
4. If you reach for the filter from the bottom, you are putting your life/limbs at risk.

I usually get the filter from up top, but it can get messy. I'll be looking into a relocating kit real soon.

i dont see how you could possibly do oil changes by grabbing it from the top!!

but yeah, if you wont get under your car I can understand that.
and hondas filter location is really tough to get the filter off.

i changed my friends maxima and man THAT was nice!
the filter was right down by where the drain plug is,
to the side of the oil pan. it was crazy easy.

so when you loosen the oil filter... oil just drips out of it doesn't it?

you should just use fram oil filters man they are the greatest ever they have a grip handle and its so easy to take off

ummm actually fram filters are some of the worst filters you can buy , but thanks for playing

yes they are and you can find them on ebay all the time. you should look into the whole oil cooler kit it helps your eng. and eng oil last longer and makes your car run alittle cooler and more reliable. IM running trubo on my hb with gsr swap and with trubo it's almost like a must, but you can still get by with out it, (i wouldn't)

look into permacool univeral kit. thats the cheapest around at about 40-65 bucks. search on the net.
