Default HELP!! crx w/ zc problems (maybe timing related)

well, i just got done changing my oil pump. i put everything back together, got everything timed in right (i didnt use a timing light though), and started it up. it ran good. i had it idling for about 15 mins, then i took it around the block. still ran good.

i shut it off for a few days. i started it up yesterday, let it idle, and then i took it out again. this time when i did...it would pop, stutter, hesitate, you name it.. then it started to smoke black really bad. i took out the spark plugs, and the # 1 and 4 cylider are running LEAN, and the #2 and 3 are runnning RICH.

does this sound like a timing problem?? im positive the timing was on, and that the tesioner was tight enough. any feedback would be appreciated

im going to re-check it when i get home. i didnt have too much time to check it today. i just dont know why its off (if it is). what would make it jump off? would it be the tensioner? i was 99% sure it was tight enough....oh well, ill try to re-set everything again.

does the whole problem sound like a timing issue??? (#2 and #3 cyl. RICH / #1 and #4 cyl lean) + all of the popping/hesitating i am also going to check ecu codes tonight while im at it

If you haven't changed a t. belt before and you're not sure exactly what to look for, you can have it too loose on one side or the other and it can skip a tooth...

When you get it set, turn it over a few times by hand and make sure it looks good, then start it and make sure everything is good. Bad timing will cause major hesitation, that's for sure...And if you skipped a tooth, you probably have bent valves ...

It sounds like it may not be your timing, but check it anyhow.....are plug wires in the right order?? I don't know what else it could be??...

Maybe the exhaust cam slipped and the cam angle or crank angle sensor is off. Which ever the one on the exhaust cam is... I can never remember.

It sounds like an ignition timing issue to me, but that could be caused by a mechanical timing issue as well of course.
